Making a Change

A month off porn and my morning erections came back

Every test came back normal, but I had no morning erections and went limp around women. A month without porn and three weeks without masturbating changed that.

I’m writing because I want to share a bit about myself and my problem. I hope what I describe here lifts someone’s spirits or encourages them to quit. I’ll try not to go on too long.

I’m addicted to porn and masturbation. At first I didn’t know what was wrong with me. No morning erections at all, zero arousal around a woman. In a word, limp. The only thing that gave me a temporary erection was porn. At first I looked for the problem in alcohol, cigarettes, bad diet, stress, exhaustion. By process of elimination I tried to work out what was wrong with me. I had every test done and the results were fine. Then I went online and the search began.

That’s when everything became clear. I understood where the problem was. I started reading a lot and gathering information about what to do now. I decided to quit. No porn, no masturbation, no fantasising, no touching myself. The first week was brutal. That’s when I felt how addicted I really was. Right now I’ve gone a month without watching porn or any nudity at all, and three weeks without jerking off. I’m sticking to everything I read about how to do this. As for what quitting has given me, here’s how it is:

My morning erections are getting more and more frequent. This morning, for the first time in several years, I had one so hard it was difficult to pee. I had to wait for it to go down a bit, because it was standing like a mast. A few days ago I was kissing a girl and she was touching me. I had an erection; I felt life starting to come back in my pants. Before, as I said, I was limp, zero reaction to anything. Summing up a month of this, I’m simply in shock. There are huge changes. To be honest, my starting point was tragic. Quitting was my only rescue and the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s much better, but there’s still a long way to go before I’m fully happy. Luckily I’m patient. I don’t dwell on libido fluctuations and so on. I just wait patiently and fill the time with sport and seeing friends. That’s all I wanted to say about myself.

A thoughtful conversation.
