A little under a year ago I told myself I was going to take myself in hand, because I didn’t want to be impotent for the rest of my life. So this is how it went for me. Total abstinence for three months, unfortunately only from masturbation; I carried on watching porn. In the end I broke when a married acquaintance who was unhappy in her relationship started coming on to me. I resisted her, but the next day I had a marathon, because something in me snapped. Still, I didn’t let it crush me. Then another three months off, still with porn. After three months I was so charged up that one time, while watching porn, I squeezed my pelvic floor a bit harder and that was it. But this time there was no marathon, just that one “shot”. I didn’t let that crush me either. More abstinence, still watching porn now and then, and after a month I was charged up again and had to relieve myself once. I didn’t let that crush me either. But after that incident I finally stopped watching porn.
Since then I’ve had three nocturnal emissions, something I’d never had before in my life, and I’m 33. During the time I was still watching porn I honestly didn’t feel any great improvement. Now that I no longer watch, the improvement is visible. I might not have a tent every morning, but when an erection does come, it’s far harder and lasts far longer than it did when I was watching porn. To sum up, it’s only now, after almost a year’s break, that I’m noticing changes for the better, so not seeing improvement yet is no reason to give up. The foundation is to stop watching porn. I didn’t use any blockers; somehow I hold out now, though obviously not everyone can. I still get flashes of scenes from porn films in front of my eyes, but I push them out of my head straight away. When I see a photo of a half-naked woman on some website, I scroll past and don’t think about it again.
In my case there’s extra motivation too, because a month and a half ago I met a girl through a social network, the kind of girl I never dreamed I’d meet. When THE moment comes, I don’t want to come across as impotent, making excuses about being tired and all that. As for some kind of transformation, I haven’t felt any superpowers or anything like that. I still probably wouldn’t go up and talk to a pretty girl in person, but that’s more a question of character. The whole change in me came about one day when I thought: I don’t want to be a night-time wanker, and I have to take matters into my own hands. Oh, and I do some physical activity every day too: cycling, running, circuit training, but I’ve done sport since childhood, it’s not something I’ve only just started. It really is hard to climb out of this swamp. I haven’t got my full function back yet, but I know I’m on the right path.
