At twenty I realised I no longer reacted to women at all

Less than a year earlier I'd had normal erections with women. Three weeks off porn, quitting feels almost too easy, but my drive hasn't come back.

Hi. Let me briefly tell my story. Like most people, I started in primary school: sometimes several times a day, now and then a break of one day at most, stronger and stronger clips, and so on. I woke up recently, at 20, when I noticed that I didn’t react to female beauty at all. It was very strange, because less than a year earlier I’d had normal erections with women.

Now to the heart of the problem. What shocked me is that only a couple of months ago, when I tried to give up porn and masturbation, I was fighting myself the whole time. I was irritable, desperate to do it again at any cost, and then I gave in. After reading an article about it, I told myself once and for all that I was done with this shit. And here I was shocked, because only the first day was hard. I’ve now been completely abstinent for three weeks, and it’s going almost too easily. In those three weeks my testicles hurt on only one day, and apart from that, nothing.

Morning erections once every three days, libido faint, and I’m not drawn to women at all, even though I have lots of female friends. Even cuddling with a woman gives me no pleasure. I go to work, eat, work out a bit at the gym. In short, I live normally. I wonder whether these are normal stages of quitting, and whether my libido and drive will come back. It worries me a little that it went so easily; after all, it’s a big change for the body. I’m not treating anything I read online as a doctor. If it becomes necessary, I’ll see a specialist.

A thoughtful conversation.
